About Indian rupee
Indian rupee is official currency of India. It is issued and managed by Reserve Bank of India. Indian rupee is subdivided into 100 paise and circulated as bank notes, coins and digital payments.
Indian rupee is independent free floated currency and has depreciated against US dollar over time. However, it is not fully "free floating" and should be regarded as "managed float", as the Reserve Bank of India is manipulating the Indian rupee / US dollar markets to ensure financial stability.
In 2022 Reserve Bank of India introduced CDBC (central bank digital currency) version of rupee - the The Digital Rupee. It became one of the first national digital currencies in widespread use and aims to eliminate the security cost of physical currency.
