About Russian ruble
Russian Ruble is the official currency of Russian Federation and is issued by the Central Bank of Russia. It is subdivided into 100 kopecks.
The history of Russian Ruble spans well before the foundation of modern day Russian Federation. It was used as official currency of Soviet Union and, before that, as currency of Russian Empire where it was issued as gold and silver coins.
Russian Ruble is not only used as currency in Russia but also in internationally unrecognized countries of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The name "Ruble" also is shared for official currency of Belarus which is known internationally as "Belarussian Ruble".
