About Swiss franc
Swiss franc is official currency of Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Campione d'Italia. Due to Switzerland's history as trusted home for foreign capital, Swiss franc also happens to be one of the most well known and traded national currencies globally.
Swiss franc is subdivided into 100 centimes and is circulated in physical form as coins and bank notes. 1000 Swiss franc bank note happens to be among the most valuable bank notes in current use.
Swiss franc used to have reputation as a stable currency immune to excessive money printing and inflation. This aura was shattered in 2011 when Swiss National Bank decided to cap franc's value to Euro. This move was justified by growing discontent of Swiss companies who threatened to leave Switzerland due to rapid appreciation of their local currency.
