About Stacks
Stacks is a smart contract platform linked to Bitcoin. Stacks is leveraging the robust security of Bitcoin while adding programmability that is not supported by the Bitcoin protocol.
While Stacks can be considered a "Layer 2" solution built on top of Bitcoin, it still does have its own native token - Stacks STX.
Inter-linking between Stacks and Bitcoin happens via novel "Proof of Transfer" mechanism which also allows STX holders to earn staking rewards which are paid in Bitcoin.
Stacks smart contracts are primarily written in Stacks own "Clarity" programming language.
